Grip, stretch and comfort are different design objectives. Compare coating patterns on representative fabric so a more prominent dot pattern is not automatically mistaken for a better finished garment.

Evaluation scope
JY-988 is listed as a two-component addition-curing textile silicone for anti-slip and decorative applications. Performance belongs to the cured coating on its intended fabric. Fabric finish, coating pattern and processing history must therefore accompany any evaluation; the material description alone does not qualify a garment or establish a safety claim.

Keep these variables in the record
| Item | What to record |
|---|---|
| Fabric | Record construction, fiber blend and pretreatment. |
| Coating | Define pattern, coverage and cured thickness. |
| Cure | Use the confirmed grade-specific processing instructions. |
| Use | Specify stretch, washing and contact conditions. |
Trial and review plan
- Prepare patterns that differ in one defined feature, such as coverage or spacing. Keep the base fabric, silicone grade and cure process the same.
- Compare stretch and recovery, coating attachment and contact behavior using a repeatable method. Check the pattern in both relaxed and extended fabric states.
- Evaluate the coated fabric after the intended wash and wear simulation. Look for local cracking, edge lifting or changes in the fabric's movement.
How to use the results
Choose a pattern that meets the specified end-use criteria without creating unacceptable stiffness or local strain. A bench friction result does not establish a fall-prevention claim or suitability for every contact surface. Such claims require their own relevant testing.
Information to include in an RFQ
Provide fabric swatches, the proposed pattern, coating equipment and the intended end use. Request current component identification, processing guidance and safety documents. Agree the tests and acceptance criteria for the finished fabric before specifying a bulk grade or making an anti-slip performance claim.
Frequently asked questions
Should the highest surface coverage be selected by default?
No. Greater coverage changes fabric behavior and may not improve the intended use. Compare alternatives against agreed grip, flexibility, appearance and durability requirements.
Are these proposed checks certified results for this grade?
No. This article describes evaluation and procurement questions, not completed customer trials. Request current grade-specific documents and appropriate test evidence. The acceptance criteria must fit the actual formulation, process or assembly being qualified.
