A water based ink defoamer should remove foam without causing craters, pinholes, fish eyes or gloss problems. In ink and coating systems, compatibility is often as important as defoaming speed.
Bubbles can come from dispersion, grinding, letdown, pumping, filling or application. The defoamer should be tested at the point where foam is created, not only in a beaker water test.
For water-based ink, compare JY-1250M Water-based Ink Defoamer and JY-1650M Water-based Ink Defoamer. For coating defects, compare with JY-1825G Industrial Coatings Defoamer if the system is closer to paint or coating use.
The test should include foam collapse, microfoam reduction, storage stability, surface drawdown, printing appearance, gloss, leveling, transparency and defect observation across several dosages. Overdosing can create new surface defects, so the recommended range matters.
For a useful recommendation, send resin type, pigment system, surfactant package, pH, viscosity, solids content, application method, current defect photos and required TDS or MSDS files.
