Silicone Release Emulsion for Aluminium Die Casting: Supplier Qualification Questions

An aluminium die-casting release enquiry needs more detail than the alloy name. The tooling, application method, casting cycle and downstream finishing requirements determine what a useful qualification programme must examine. A general release-agent catalogue description should start the supplier discussion, while the actual process provides the acceptance criteria.

Separate the catalogue application from a process approval

Juyou lists JY-303 as a long-chain alkyl (aryl) silicone oil emulsion and describes release applications involving aluminium and aluminium alloys. This supports a release-agent enquiry, but it does not provide a grade-specific die-casting trial report for your machine, tooling or alloy. Ask the technical team to confirm the proposed grade and supply current application guidance before selecting trial conditions.

Describe the production problem precisely

Identify the alloy, part geometry, tooling condition and current release-product practice. Record where release difficulties or surface defects occur and how they are observed. Include the application equipment, water quality where dilution is proposed, cycle sequence and downstream coating or bonding steps. These details help distinguish a material-selection question from a tooling, application or process-control problem.

Define acceptance before the controlled line trial

Agree which observations will be recorded: release consistency, build-up, part appearance and any relevant casting-quality checks. Keep the baseline process documented and retain representative reference parts. Review finished-part requirements independently of how easily the casting releases. A reduction in sticking does not demonstrate acceptable coating adhesion, bonding or surface cleanliness for a customer's later manufacturing operation.

Require a documented handover to production

Obtain a current TDS and SDS, grade-specific preparation instructions and supplier guidance for storage and any working emulsion. Do not create a dilution or application-temperature recommendation from general catalogue language. Record the tested lot, equipment settings, agreed acceptance results and any unresolved observations. Confirm the production supply specification and change-notification expectations only after the responsible team accepts the trial evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Does the JY-303 listing certify performance in every die-casting process?

No. The listed release application does not establish universal machine, alloy or downstream-finish compatibility. Obtain grade confirmation and evidence relevant to the actual process.

Should release performance and paint adhesion be evaluated together?

Include both in the qualification plan when the part will be painted, but record them as separate outcomes. Good release alone cannot establish that the downstream finish meets its requirements.
