Compatibility questions become easier to answer when the proposed ester blend is tested systematically. A clear mixture at room temperature is a useful observation, but it does not establish compatibility across storage conditions or with all the solids in a makeup formula.

Evaluation scope
Octyl silicone oil belongs in a formulation evaluation, not in a stand-alone claim about pigment quality. Pigment surface treatment, the surrounding oil phase and the dispersing equipment all affect the result. The JY-787 product page provides the material identity; the following checks are proposed development work, not reported test results for a customer's formula.

Keep these variables in the record
| Item | What to record |
|---|---|
| Pigment | Record chemistry, surface treatment and supplier lot. |
| Oil phase | Keep the full carrier composition visible in the comparison. |
| Process | Record mixing sequence, equipment and sample temperature. |
| Storage | Use the same container and observation schedule for every sample. |
Trial and review plan
- List the esters and other oils actually used in the formula. Test the candidate with those materials, not only with a convenient laboratory substitute.
- Include the planned blend and nearby compositions in a small comparison matrix. Use consistent mixing and record haze, layering or viscosity change over time.
- Repeat the most promising blends with the real pigment package. Compare observations after an agreed temperature-conditioning sequence and after returning to room temperature.
How to use the results
Keep observations separate: neat-oil miscibility, pigment dispersion and complete-formula stability answer different questions. A failure in a simple binary blend should prompt investigation before scale-up, while a passing binary blend still needs confirmation in the complete composition.
Information to include in an RFQ
Send the pigment list, oil-phase composition, intended cosmetic format and the current dispersion problem. Request the current JY-787 technical data, safety data and sample identification. Ask the supplier to distinguish documented grade properties from behavior that still requires testing in your formulation.
Frequently asked questions
Can one compatible ester qualify an entire oil phase?
No. Other oils, pigments and additives can change the behavior. Qualify the complete mixture and document substitutions so a later raw-material change does not silently invalidate the original trial.
Are these proposed checks certified results for this grade?
No. This article describes evaluation and procurement questions, not completed customer trials. Request current grade-specific documents and appropriate test evidence. The acceptance criteria must fit the actual formulation, process or assembly being qualified.
