Surface condition and through-cure are different observations. When developing an RTV system from a silicone base, define specimen geometry and the required cured properties before deciding whether the material has completed the relevant process.

Evaluation scope
The JY-107 page describes a silicone material that cures with a crosslinking agent and catalyst. It should not automatically be treated as a ready-to-use cartridge sealant or as a complete electronics encapsulant. Establish the supplied grade and formulation responsibilities before evaluating a cured system based on this material.

Keep these variables in the record
| Item | What to record |
|---|---|
| Supply form | Confirm whether the material is a base or a complete system. |
| Formulation | Identify the approved components and their responsibilities. |
| Geometry | Define joint or specimen thickness and exposure. |
| Qualification | Evaluate the cured formulation, not only the base fluid. |
Trial and review plan
- Use an approved formulation and handling procedure developed by qualified personnel. Identify every component and record the conditions under which specimens are prepared.
- Prepare specimens representative of the intended geometry. Inspect surface behavior and internal condition using suitable methods at predefined observation points.
- Assess the required cured properties after the agreed conditioning period. Compare with a reference system and investigate variation before changing formulation or process variables.
How to use the results
A non-tacky surface does not establish every property of the cured system. Keep the assessment tied to the intended thickness, formulation and environment. Do not use an arbitrary observation time as a universal cure guarantee.
Information to include in an RFQ
Explain whether you need a silicone base or a ready-formulated system. Provide the intended substrate and cured-property requirements, and request the current specification and safety documents. Cure chemistry, formulation compatibility and end-use qualification must be agreed with the supplier and your technical team.
Frequently asked questions
Can the base material's data sheet certify the final RTV formulation?
No. Additional components and processing affect the finished system. Qualify the actual formulation and retain a complete batch record so the result can be reproduced.
Are these proposed checks certified results for this grade?
No. This article describes evaluation and procurement questions, not completed customer trials. Request current grade-specific documents and appropriate test evidence. The acceptance criteria must fit the actual formulation, process or assembly being qualified.
